I have always had an interest and appreciation for design. I believe it's a vital part of life. For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed making things and have had a passion for art. This is what drew me to become a Designer. All throughout my schooling, the margins of my notebooks were covered in doodles. Even in class I was designing. When effort, passion and skill are combined, the most mundane tasks can be done with great artistry. The presence of these three qualities is no guarantee of beauty or functionality but their absence will always lead to ugliness and inactivity.
Over the years, I have expanded my skillset from doodling to working with the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and working in code (primarily front-end HTML and CSS), but my effort and passion remain the same. I have a professional background in marketing and public relations (along with a handful of other industries) and I know the importance of customer service, messaging, and branding. I can help to provide your business with the solutions to compete in the information age and firmly establish your brand on the most public, immediate and interactive of platforms; the web.
Every web page is unique and must be tailored to each client's goals. Before begining any project I ask "Why do you want a website?" and work from there. This helps to determine the functions of the page. As with architecture form follows function, but it is not a slave to function. Every client is unique, and though I generally work from a mobile first philosophy, this is by no means set in stone. There are no boundaries or limitations when designing for the web.
Graphic design is an integral aspect to web design. Understanding layouts and what draws the eye is necessary for optimizing user experience. I can create content in the form of graphics for the web or for print, as well as edit video and audio. I can do original designs or edit vector/raster effects. Although web design is my main focus, I'm aware that print is not dead. In fact, it's more alive than ever.
